Thinking about taking the Functional Nutrition program? Learn more about instructor Wes Harwood, below!
Bio for Wes Harwood, MS, BCHN®:
Having been a paramedic and a physician’s assistant, Wes has been engaged in allopathic medicine for many years. He also was the Program Director for a private vocational school for paramedics. His interest and passion for teaching led him to pursue and attain a Masters of Science in Post-Secondary, Adult, and Continuing Education at Portland State University. Upon graduation, Wes accepted a Program Coordinator position at Portland Community College’s Institute for Health Professionals (IHP). The position has provided him opportunities to teach professional continuing education classes and to develop and coordinate courses and programs for healthcare professionals.
One of Wes’s long-time interests has been cooking (and eating). Fortuitously, IHP offered a Holistic Nutrition Program (the predecessor to the current Functional Nutrition program) that he completed. Wes was the first graduate to pass the Holistic Nutrition Credentialing Board exam.
While he is currently retired from PCC, Wes remains an Adjunct Faculty. He considers himself very fortunate to be able to combine his western healthcare foundations and the holistic nutrition experience by teaching in the integrative healthcare arena.
