Dr. Jerome Craig teaches in the Functional Nutrition program.
Why do you teach?
I love to create "aha" moments. I am always amazed at the multitude of incredible, intricate functions the human body performs every second of every day. Learning something new about the inner workings of this amazing vessel is exciting for me and I want to pass that on. I believe that we should all know more about how our body works – perhaps we will take better care of ourselves and others.
What is your background?
I’ve always been fascinated by anatomy, but learning nutrition and physiology makes this all the more amazing. This has taken me along a career path from Personal Trainer to Massage Therapist to Chiropractor to Anatomy and Physiology Instructor and ultimately culminating in becoming a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner.
What kind of transformation do you see in your students during a course?
Typically I’ll see the attitude of “Why do I have to learn this?” shift to a constant search for new material and questioning that typically goes beyond the scope of the course. I love it when I see the thirst for knowledge arrive in the class.
If you could give one piece of advice to all your future students, what would it be?
Don’t stop researching.
What do you like to do for fun?
I am kept pretty busy by my young kids and their activities but gardening, hiking, biking, soccer, and camping are a few of the things that I do as often as time allows.
